What is giving intelligence?

Giving intelligence is software that reads the giving records a church already keeps and surfaces the relational moments hiding in them — a family's first gift, a faithful giver going quiet, an unusually large gift — so leaders can respond personally and promptly, with a human approving every word before it reaches a family.

The term matters because churches already have two other kinds of "giving" software, and neither does this job. Confusing the three is how the moments get missed.

The three kinds of giving software

Giving softwareMoves money. Online giving, text-to-give, kiosks — Tithe.ly, Pushpay, Vanco and similar. Essential plumbing; tells you nothing about who needs a word this week.
Church management (ChMS)Stores records. Planning Center, Breeze, Rock, CCB and similar file every transaction faithfully — and treat a family's first gift and their 200th identically.
Giving intelligenceReads those records and answers one question: which families need a human response this week, and what should it say? It sits on top of the other two; nothing migrates.

What separates real giving intelligence from a report

Reports are everywhere — some are free. The defining feature of giving intelligence isn't the chart; it's the action layer: the right families surfaced at the right moment, with the response already drafted and waiting for a shepherd's approval. A tool that shows you retention percentages but leaves the letter unwritten is analytics. A tool that sends the letter without you is automation. Giving intelligence is the narrow, human path between them.
